“You’re not functioning properly, you need another dog in your life.” That was Maggie’s mum’s advice that began her journey to finding Barney Bear. Maggie had said a heartbreaking goodbye to her beloved rescue Weimaraner, Moosey. He was her heart and soul, but her mum was right. It’s not about replacing the irreplaceable. It’s about sharing, loving and living the happiest version of the one life you are given. Maggie loves hound dogs and rescues are her thing. After searching for a suitable weimaraner /gundog type breed in the UK, she was unsuccessful. Sadly, Cyprus had a great many to choose from. Two months into her online search, Maggie saw a video of a very broken, solemn-looking hound. His spirit looked crushed and she knew he was the one. After an epic journey* from Cyprus via Paris to Worcester, Barney was HOME. ‘Mr Floppychops’ was an instant hit. He was skinny but in good condition and settled in quickly. At first there were a few teething problems, including four chewed through seat belts, but Barney is a patient, gentle dog who accepts big bear hugs and loves people. He makes Maggie laugh when she really doesn’t want to and plays stupid when it suits him.
