Before Mdina arrived she was destined to be a Maureen. Debra and her little boy, Reuben, had their hearts set on a kitten to complement their family set up. After a week of name testing and suggestions they felt Maureen just didn’t fit so they settled on Mdina, inspired by Debra’s love of Maltese Art Glass (worth a google if you are unfamiliar with the style). However they soon discovered that behind the innocent and adorable little kitten face, which incidentally she has retained long into adulthood, lay a minx of the highest order. Mdina is fearless- and a little bit insane. Less than three hours after being spayed she leapt six feet from a static position to climb her favourite hedge – Debra had expected to be on Florence care for at least two days after the operation. Mdina loves snow – the deeper the better – and rarely gives dogs more than a cursory glance. She is the Bear Grylls of the cat world, always on adventures, always eating unspeakable crawling things and often returning home with half the world caught up in her shorts. She is truly a one-off and Reuben’s bestest furry friend.
