Ah Skimble. Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat. After three years of very little sleep, Amanda had tried most things to help the small boy in her world get a full nights rest. Being three sometimes means it’s tricky to sleep. Being deaf sometimes means that night time is a tricky time. A firm believer in the emotional power of a furry companion, Amanda felt it was the right time to get a cat. A small kitten creature who could grow up with her other small creature & hopefully be there for each other in the dark, silent hours. According to her boy Monty, the cat had to be ginger. And had to be called Skimbleshanks. Amanda pictured a calm & brilliant cat taking their gang from two to three. What they got was a wild, crazy ginger fur ball. Skimble & Monty were instant best friends, he followed Monty everywhere & ran up the back of Amanda’s legs at any given opportunity. This cat was perfect for them. An adventurous rule breaker. Hard work, but a wonderful quirky fit. However one of the risks of cat ownership is cats & roads & the very worse happened. Six seconds is all it took to fall in love, six months is all they had together. Heart breaking times. Now Monty & Amanda search for Skimble in the stars. And apparently he’s quite often having a party on the moon with ‘Benji’s Dad & Uncle David. He’s almost certainly running up the back of their legs to sit parrot like on their shoulders. Rest peacefully dearest Skimbleshanks.
